inspect those to see if any rust in them. if not, definitely check the salt.

ok i have some reef crystals on the way, and will do a 50% wc tomorrow, then another either later in the day or the day after.

Just did a second 50% water change, so the water in the tank is now 75% new. That should reset anything that had reached a toxic concentration. I pulled all but one magnetic frag puck out just in case. And read online that vortech pumps magnets will occasionally fail and rust, killing the tank. So I'm gonna clean mine tomorrow and take the opportunity to look inside and check.
Also removed my GFO reactor. I dont think it was causing the problem. But right now i want to get down to the very basics. And for the moment I know phosphate won't be an issue.

i think i see some more PE on the acro nana. hopefully the system is improving...
i took some pics yesterday, and then will take some more around the same time on monday or tuesday to compare.

nana:

and one of my acan - im hoping it starts expanding more:

my acan looks a bit happier. but the acros are goners. does anybody see anything indicative of infection or parasitism? im wondering if this was maybe a case of white pox?
my remaining montis are holding on for dear life, but i haven seen PE in a month from them.

Get rid of the remaining acros....will never come back and watching a slow painful death is torture to any reefer. The montipora may surprise you and make a come back. Once you see them encrusting well and showing some color I would try more sps. I think if you jump in now with sps you will only get a loss.

Yeah I should... But I keep praying they bounce back. Staring at them for PE all the time.
I'm planning on grabbing a small acro frag to test if the issue has been resolved though, since even if it has I suspect the damage done was too much for these sps to recover from, or at least show recovery in the near future.

after 2 days the test frags are doing well and showing lots of PE. also, my mystic sunset is doing better - for the first time in forever, i see PE.

If the issue is now solved, a water contaminant I can't test for - likely in the salt batch. Based on the fish being unaffected I'd guess a heavy metal - since fish are much more tolerant of them than corals.
