Tanked what did you think?

That shark tank was huge... I wanna see them do a real tank though... no fake props all live rock and coral...

Loved it!!! They must have got a lot of criticism for not stressing the importance of acclimation and safety for the fish it seems they are showing more of that aspect of the hobby this year....

I watch it, both episodes last night actually. I like seeing the tanks and fish - but could do without all the family antics. I also HATE the fact they do things "just for TV" ... like taking the little Cow Fish out of the water and showing it to the camera ... then saying "oh isn't he cute". NO, it's NOT CUTE to pull a fish out of water! Hate that. They also made a Puffer puff to to "show someone" ... idiots.

+1 i agree...one wonders how much of it is themselves doing it or the producer asking them to do it.

Did anyone see the last show with the robotic arm in the middle and three tanks...one question, these are all closed salt water tanks and I did not hear them say anything about a filtration system or how they are going to maintain the water balance.
I like the show but this is one of the things that will make everyone think that maintaining a salt water aquarium is easy as pie. Getr some salt water, throw the fish in and VIOLA!

I've watched the new episodes and although I think it's a bit better than last series... they still do some dumb things. I sat there thinking, yea, that's cool that the robot arm feeds the fish but who gets to fill the lil trays with the fish food? Do they leave it there all day (where it will smell) or do they just fill it up before the robot arm feeds the fish? Either way, if you need someone to fill them up, they may as well just feed the tanks as they're needed.

They continue to fill the show with "drama" instead of concentrating more on how the tanks are built. I guess the tv station makes them do that for the ratings, but it still bugs me.

That whole incident where Brett broke the glass of the pinball machine... I'm sitting there thinking: I bet when they bought it the guy threw in an extra panel... so they worked in the "accident" where he "dropped" it. Why didn't the cameras show us the part where he dropped it? Because the brief moment I caught of it... it looked like he threw it real hard (on purpose). Then, they used the idea they were worried about it not getting there on time to create more drama. Meanwhile, they knew they had a spare with them all along. That's what I believe anyway.

I also agree that they do way too much fake coral stuff. I'd like the show much better if they used live corals and showed them picking those out... and installing them after setting up the tank. But they'll probably never do that because they like to just put the tank on the stand, fill it with water, then put in all the fish (another thing I really hate about the show... no QT period? :police:)

I do like some of the tanks they create though and I watch the show basically for that.

Definitely full of unnecessary drama, my wife totally agrees with you on the pinball glass breakage. FAKE!!

I also watch the show for the beautiful tanks they put together. Can you imagine the cost
?

While the show is mildly entertaining, it shows people who get tanks to advertise their company on the show, just like on American Chopper. Would be much better to see them build a real reef tank but that won't happen.

That's another good point. Almost everyone getting these tanks are some kind of business and hardly any of them are "enthusiasts " just looking to build the ultimate aquarium.

Most of them wouldn't know the difference if the used fresh or salt water tanks.
