Think my Basset may have lympho, any new treatments for it? I cant go thru it again!

I lost a dog 4 years ago to lympho. My Basset Hound, Bridgett. Now , my current basset, Bailey has formed swollen lymph glands in his neck and I am scared to death to take him to the vet. Not sure I can handle the news. Our last basset, Bridgett passed on Christmas night. She was diagnosed in October and given 6-8 weeks. The doc was right on the money. Here it is again a few years later....October and I think I am goin back to the vet once again.
Has there been any kind of cure developed over the past few years?

he's my boy...nothing like that bond between a dude and his dog!!

ugh idk if there is other treatment, but take him right away.

My prayers will be with you I just had to put down my 11 year old golden down in the summer. He was my first dog and eveything to me, definitely a lot of people dont realize the bond we form with our 4 leg friends. After that I adopted a lab and that ended up dying of parvo thanks to the adoption agency giving me a sick dog. Finally I have Toby who got parvo also since it was in the house from the adopted dog, thousands later he is back on his feet and getting there.

Again you guys will be in my prayers and my heart goes out to you. If you need anything let us know!

Sorry you had to experience this also. It absolutely sucks!!!! I am taken him to the Vet tomorrow and praying that I am just paranoid.

Vet said it looks like cancer. They biopsied two lymph nodes. Hopefully, we'll find out tomororw. If ya pray, please do!

Can they do anything for him!?
Chemo, but I understand with this kind of cancer it only causes more stress and discomfort for the dog. I am not gonna do it. Just give him as much "people food as he wants to make him happy." Still bein hopeful for the biopsy results. All things are possible with prayer man!!!

Yeah definitely, the dog that I mentioned we had to put down had 2 cancer things on his leg and belly. I paid for the surgery to get it done and well he lived happily until his organs decided to fail :/.

My boy now is such a brat, its like we try to train him, but with not everyone be on board its like O M G

Its impossible without everyone on the same page. One thing Ive learned since dealing with this cancer stuff....treat them like they're family or dnt have 'em!

Takin him to Red Bank Animal Hospital tomorrow to speak with an oncologist. Gotta atleast try, ya know. I am not a fan of chemo in dogs, but I have to try. families really broken up. This SUCKS!!!!

Certainly wont be addin' anything to the tank for awhile. I have a feeling his treatments could get a bit pricey. If we're gonna do it.

Wow. Really sorry to hear this. You're doing the right thing. Make him as happy as you can. If it's to be his time, make his remaining time the absolute best you can. I had a cat I got when I was 4 or 5. She lived to 25 and spent the last few years of her life chasing mice and flying squirrels around my parents house in Maine. She passed a happy old lady. I know it's tough but you also sound as if you know that there may come a time when you have to make a tough decision. Just always keep in mind what's best for him, no matter how hard it may be for you.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, your pup and everyone else involved.:love_heart:

Thank you all so much. I treat my dogs like family...I really do. This is so difficult. It's as if he knows.....of course he doesn't. I will say this though, he definitely knows somethings up with our behavior.

Started Chemo today. Doc seems to think he has a really good chance of a recovery. He certainly thinks we'll get atleast another year or so and a 10% chance of a complete recovery. His blood work and xrays give the Doc really good prognosis. He's got 5 weeks on this chemo treatment. So far, he's responding well to his first treatment. Though it was only 2 hours ago. This is moving so fast, it's a bit overwhelming. Here he is recovering.
