Threaded nylon rod

Anyone know where I can buy it locally, or do I need to order online.

McMaster Carr - I know of locations in Dayton (South Brunswick) and Robbinsville.

Grainger - they have a bunch of locations in NJ....search the internet.

Yep, they both carry it. You can call a local branch and, if they don't the item you want in stock, they can usually order it and let you pick it up at that branch in a couple days.

Figures. Mcmaster is a Internet store. You have to order then you can go pick up. That would be great if I knew anything about thread sizes.
Grainger you can't call. All calls go to a central location. They then check to see if the store has what you want. Guess I'll be taking a ride to wonderful Trenton.

The number for Grainger should be the local store, not a central business line.

If you need to know thread sizes and you have something to go by (for example an existing metal bolt or a nut that you are trying to change to nylon) then take the sample you have to Lowes and go to the hardware section. They have the big boards with all the different thread sizes on them that you can either screw into or screw on what you have.

That's strange. I call the one here in Mt. Laurel all the time and I know it's the guys working there.

That's the one I called. Guy said he would check with the store. I told him I called the actual store and he explained the how it really works. He said that most people actually think they are talking to the store. But they are not.

It's been a couple of years, but I use to just walk into the McMaster over in Dayton....no problem.

I'll check it out. No big deal though I'll just swing by Grainger in trentonon my way to work tomorrow. I figured some of the LFS might have a bit. Seems to be the popular way to hold scrapes together.

actually this seems to be the hardest thing to get . I don't mind the drive. But they don't have it anyway. The grainger in Mt Laurel only has one, yes one 2 ft 1/4" rod. McMaster Carr flat out said I can not go to store to shop. I have to go online and they will let me know when its ready to pick-up. What a PIA. Maybe I'll use some kind of epoxy.

Do you absolutely need threaded rod? I have some plain clear acrylic rod that you could have. I think I have some in 1/4" and 1/8"... both at least 3' to 4' long each. I can double check tonight for you if you want.

When you were asking about threaded rod, I thought you were looking to replace some screws to fasten something together. If you had said it was to hold rock together, I would have offered a while ago.

I just measured them both. One is 1/4" the other is 5/16"... each one is around 5 ft. long.

If I knew you were just putting rock together.....dollar store plastic coat hangers....the best!
