Toadstool?

I have had this frag in my tank since October. A buddy of mine had a few of these that were given to him and told me to take one home. Anyways, it's been about 7 months and there hasnt been much growth at all with only the polyp extension being noticeable. I had it mid level and it didnt want to extend at all for a month, then I brought it down to the substrate and got the extension. My questions are these... Exactly what type is it? What is the expected growth rate? Below is a pic that was taken in October and one that was taken a couple of weeks ago.

it def looks like a toad stool, but it should have atleast tripled in size by now... very odd...

Thanks. The other frags that he had.....well...still has in his 120 are in the same boat but with about twice as long extensions. Body wise though.....the same.

Are you sure it's a toadstool and not Glove polyps or Dasey Polyps ?
If it is a toadstool, It would be a Fancy Toadstool.
I can't tell because I can't see if there is a head.

I know that "I" am not sure. ;D

It's beena while since I have seen it with them all retracted but it looked like a rounded purple-ish, smooth head that resembled a mushroom.

It's hard to tell if it is a toadstool (sacrophyton sp) or a lobophyton sp. Both have the same polyp structure but the body is different. Unfortunately it is next to impossible to tell on such a small specimen. Can you get a picture of it closed up by chance?

I supposed I could tap it lightly to see if it closes. Will try in a few because the lights will be fading soon.

I just took some pics of it as closed as it can get. However, the mini USB cable for the cam is at work so I wont be posting until tomorrow.

I think I have it, actually a 1/2 dozen in my frag tank.
A Toadstool frag, possibly taken from the stem part not the cap. Frags tacking from the cap will grow much faster and form the standard toad stool shape much faster then frags taken from the stem!

if a toad stool, why is it growing so slowly?

Water might be too clean. The leathers in my big tank grow real slow since I use Ozone in there.

Again, the stem frags which you likely have seem to grow at a much slower rate.
Also the clean tank is a factor, seeing I have Softy and Zoa dominated tanks, I do a feeding twice a week of a combo of Frozen Coral Food, Freeze Dried Plankton and Reef Plus supplement. Starts off as a cloud of particles and about 15 min later all has been consumed. This did raise my nitrates, but with addition of cheato, Skimming and water changes it now under control.
