So. I'm building my self a 14 gallon acrylic frag tank. Materials have been ordered. I have a nano overflow kit coming from glass holes and plan on using an apollo led cube for lighting. This will be plumbed into the DT. Any dos and donts you guys can throw out would be appreciated.

Sounds like a plan. What are the dimensions of the frag tank going to be? What are you going to use as racks? Sounds like you are pretty handy so I would order the extra acrylic and rods and build blue glow style ones, but that is just me.

Tanks going to be 18x16x12 I'm going to have some left over acrylic but but now you have me thinking. I might even have to order some fluorescent acrylic to jazz this thing up. My initial plan has just been to grab some black eggcrate and build a PVC frame but this would look cooler.

Looks fantastic!

What did you use to cut the acrylic. I have to work real hard to get clean looking cuts on acrylic.

This time I had the plastic cut to size for my by the merchant. I scraped the saw marks out. Used a router to cut the bracing. Ill turn the left over acrylic into racks. Eventually in going to get a table saw so I can do bigger projects.

Paul,
The guy at the acrylic shop I go to recommended an 84 tooth carbide tipped saw blade for getting nice cuts on acrylic. He also said to set the blade just a hair higher than the acrylic being cut. Hope that helps. I got some really nice cuts with this advice.

This thing hsd been sittiing for a few days so I finally decided to putt the iverflow box in and fill it up. Going to let it sit for 24 hours to see if there are any leaks.

On a side note. I picked up black paint for the back glass of my 75 over the weekend. Painted the back and decided repaint the stand also. What a difference. Really give better color to the tank. Stand looks way better also.

So built the stand for the frag tank (going to put a skin on it later once I get all electrical moved from the sump area). Put the returns in the frag tank. Started building the new return manifold. Ordered a bubble blaster 5000 to replace my mag 9 return pump. Hopefully I can get this thing all hooked up and wet mid week.

Here's how everything turned out. I'm off of work today so am going to get all the plumbing done. Got all my electric out of the sump which is nice. Other thing I'm going to do is get a bigger ato container to go under the frag tank.
