Tristian's 60 Gallon Wrasse Only LPS Tank.

I love LPS. I like Pygmy Angels. They don't mix. My flameback has been going to town on a few of my LPS's in my big display tank. Since I can't catch him... I decided to move all of my LPS to a dedicated tank like I had with my Solana and continue there. This setup was EXPENSIVE. I don't know why exactly... but I did spend WAY more than I anticipated. My finance manger (wife) approved the purchases though and I got green lit.

Lighting - TEK Elite 4x24w or Oceanrevive LED
* - I'm going grey and aging by stressing over which lighting to use. In my past I have used LED (FATHOM) for lighting my LPS tanks with amazing success. The Fathom was fairly decent spectrum and had ok controls. The Ocean Revive seems promising and at 158 Bucks SHIPPED.. Its almost insane. I already have the TEK. If I decide that I don't like the Oceanrevive I plan to DIY a custom 6 Bulb T5 retro into a hood with some LED's.

Tank - Perfecto by Marineland Low Iron 60 Gallon Frameless & Rimless Cube. - Reef Ready. (I didn't even know they made this)

* - Low Iron isn't Starphire. I did not want a starphire tank and the only difference here is that this tank uses a higher quality glass with less imperfections which about eliminates the green tint from it. I didn't purposely order the tank like this.. Royal Pet Supplies (Distributor) by way of Tropiquarium (Sales Channel) did all this. They ordered it after the Deep Blue 60 Gallon I wanted suddenly became unavailable all over the country.

Stand - Marineland Oak Stand in Cherry.
* - It has a open back and sits significantly higher than normal. Its much better quality than the cheaper stands I have purchased in the past. Its no custom job but It seems very sturdy and I like the fit and finish. I wish the sump's didn't have to be slid in from behind but at least the opening is good enough for me to get in and work in there.

Sump - Custom TSUNAMI in White and Black
*- I purchased this from a guy down in Florida. It was shipped and arrived in abox that looked like it was purposely beat up. It lived though.

Skimmer - Bubble Magus Curve 5
* - Same guy down in Florida. The skimmer was less than 3 months old. It looks brand new.

Flow - Tunze Nano's (un controllable)
* - I will probably need to upgrade these to WP10's from Jebao for 50 Bucks Each. I don't think I'll need WP25's but I will have to see.

Rock - Display
*- Rock is coming out of my display tank after my recent crash and re-scaping.They will be drilled/built/epoxied to be 1 entire structure with no stacked pieces. I will be able to remove the entirety of my aquascape as a single structure with all attached corals on it.

Stocking List

Pair of Scotts Fairy Wrasses
Pair of Carpenter Fairy Wrasses
Pair of Hawaiian Flames
Pair of Platinum Clowns
Solarensis Wrasse

+ Other Assorted Wrasses..

1. Chevron Tang.

* - All will be Juvenile and be moved to my larger tank as needed when they get older.

The only way to truly see how fish live is to visit them. So I jumped on this

With a rimless tank, is it a concern of wrasses jumping out? Other wise good luck!

Yep that's my biggest concern. However I'm building a white mesh cover for the tank to stop that. Not a big issue.

Thanks for tagging along... lol I wasn't sure any one cared. I mean.... Op delivered Pictures, Story, Impossible reasons to visit far away islands and only a handful of comments lol. I was gonna let it quietly... fade into the background and dissappear lol!

Quick Updates:

1. I took my buddies advice and posted the old frag tank up on Manhattan and I got a bunch of bites! So that should be changing hands soon I hope.
2. I found something amazing on reefbuilders.com..... Allows me to glue rocks to each other and to the GLASS/Overflow...... This might change how I planned to do my rock work. I still want the centered bonsai look with minimum of rocks touching or covering the sand. Instead of drilling I might be able to glue the rocks together for a strong bond.

anyone ever use this?

Sounds like a pretty good product if it works as claimed. Only downfall I see is tank has to be dry. Which is only a downfall for those that are already up and running.

What did you do on your St Maarten stop off. I lived on the Dutch side for a few years and worked for one of the shore excursions located in great bay.

I'm excited for this to unfold. I love the Bonsai look in tanks (Always been a fan of less is more :p). Let me know how the stuff holds up to the glass/overflows over time, because I have a 150 I may like to try that on when the time comes.

Tagging along~

I have family on both the Dutch and French Side. I was in Simpson Bay for a while and then in Mahao for a bit as well. I mostly snorkeled off of Simpson Bay near the rocks. On the Cruise i was in St. Maarten for 1 long day. But prior to that 2 months before I was in St. Martin for 21 days on vacation where I did a bit of snuba and fishing as well.
