Tropic Marin's new salt

I see premium aquatics has tropics new bio-actif salt. Like 93 dollars for 200 gal mix. Anyone using this yet? Seems a bit pricey. I wonder if their putting this out because of the 100+ dollar reefers best thats out? Trying to be the only other company with really expensive top end salt? I really like tropic over the years and am a big fan of their salt. I already went from tropic to tropic pro when it came out. Just wondering if this one will be worth it

I haven't been happy with the results of TMP for the last few months. We're switching to Seachem. Their reliability has been faltering and for 100$ you better be guaranteeing me parameters that are rock solid.

Thanks. I'm still digging out of 11 pages of unread posts. If there's anyone that need something feel free to bump the thread. It will help me get to it sooner!

Thats what i mean. A bunch of people on the zeo board were complaining about reefers best, saying that a bunch of their batches were mixing up with terrible numbers. If your paying 70+ for the stuff it should be spot on, a hundred it should be exact!

im going to be switching to tmp because of its lower alk- im using reef crystals with a 12.8 alk thats way to much of a change- Phyl what parameters did you get that your not satisfied with?

I looked on tropic's site for info on the new salt, don't see it on there. Wanted to know what the numbers were suppose to be. Wonder if its low alk for ulns

Really!.. I just started using Seachem Marine for the last few months and really like it.. After I read this i don't think seachem reef is worth the price

The reliability I was speaking of was TMPs, not Seachem. I don't have a feel for whether or not the tank is faring better from the change of salt yet.

I just saw this thread and figured I would jump in. The new tropic Marin salt mixes about the same as tmp. The main difference is that they are now incorperating a product that is suppose to help maintain the bacteria in your system. The substance is similar to vodka dosing. It helps bind the nutrients for both better skimming and also serves as a nutrient source for the corals. You can purchase the product seperate, it is called tropic Marin reef actif. I've been using it and have been pretty happy with. I am waiting for the new salt to be available localy to purchase it locally. I tried the salt when I was given a sample box at macna and I was really happy with it.

Oh forgot to say this, the bio activ salt mix will be their new premium blend salt. It will be the competition for people who are looking to achieve ULNS. It will be there to compete with brightwell neo marine and d&d salt mix.
