tropical fish at mansaquan?

i was spear fishing yesterday afternoon and my buddy pointed out two interesting looking fish. i didn't even know there were fish till they swam away startled. i thought they were almost leaves or something. whatever they were they were pretty flat and had a brownish color to them. they definitely looked like some type of tropical fish.

does anybody have a web site that shows common fish that are likely to be found up here especially when the water is warm? i'm curious as to what types they are.

sounds like a filefish. I've caught a few like this one in the Belmar marina...

Matt,
Thanks. I will be there this weekend. I am going to a party in Shark River so will be stopping by and dropping a net in and checking periodically.

yeah there's supposed to be another hurricane...which means good waves but is bad for snorkeling etc.

depending if the waves are surfable, i may still try to spearfish, crab, and look for tropical fish.

if anyone is definitely going, PM me your info so maybe we can meet up.

also i'm ok to meet up next weekend or weekends after that as well.
