Trying to pull off a move - am I insane?

Sounds like a good plan.

My offer of the pico is still open if you want to borrow it. I would not put the clown in there, but the goby & pistol will be ok if you keep up your WC.
Thanks for the offer. I'd love the pico but for now I have to try and conserve as much time as possible to deal with the normal move stuff so I'm not sure when I could make the trip down the shore - but thank you VERY much! I will have to keep with the plan for the 10g temp set up

S;741472]Sounds like you've made up mind to hold on to the tank. Glad you are sticking around. I've got a 40 gallon brute can and an extra 20 gallon long if you need them.[/QUOTE]

Thanks and thanks Mike but I **hope** I'll be ok. I am supposed to get a pair of 55g drums on dollys from a friend. I hope that will cover me for the water that's in the stock tank not otherwise going into. I'll use my 25g WC drum for NSW to have for whatever is needed and the 15g drums I have to move everything else including some extra RoDi, base rock, etc... Fish and rock with encrusted coral will go in the aquaVitro salt buckets (I always know those lids would come in handy :) ) and that way I'm taking all the small tanks except the 10 empty. The ten I will drain half way down so I can carry it. Everything will spend the afternoon in a neighbor's garage that's half way between. Hopefully temps aren’t an issue

Everything is in Jose's stock tank. Moving that to my neighbor's garage tomorrow. Step 3 of about 15 complete. The tank alone has doubled my work and stress with this move. I'll think twice about trying this again...

So far it looks like most stuff's alive. I'm sure that going on 5 days with limited natural sunlight has taken a toll, especially the SPS/acros but I've seen a couple fish. I lost one around the first night. I was getting ready to move the stock tank and found it. Had to send one of my girls out of the room... Hopefully that's the only swimming casualty. Hoping to get the stock tank back in a day or 2.
The real scare was my stand. The 90 went down to the basement with no trouble but the stand was another story. It took all 5 movers to get it down. It didn't go down easily. The move was supposed to start and finish Friday. That didn't happen. But before they left Friday they said they doubted it would go down and I got to worry ALL night. The move itself was a bit hellacious. Hopefully that was the glitch.

Sorry to hear about the loss and the stand issues Dave. Hopefully it all works out in the end and everything else makes it.

Are you completely done setting up the new tank now and all livestock added?

The "ICU" is in the new house. So far all but one fish are accounted for (yellow watchman) but it's pistol buddy is still good so finger's crossed.

The 8 or so days the stock tank was in my neighbor's garage it was running with no light, and no filtration. All I had was a small air stone and some powerheads. I did take some RO/Di over to top off but all of my stuff was packed, including refractometer, hydrometers, etc. I fed the fish maybe 3 times to keep down pollutants. LPS and shrooms look fine, RBTAs are handing on but some look bad. Various monti-s look ok. Other SPS are all done. Under the circumstances I'm felling rather fortunate. Lights are up and running so hopefully some of it will be saved. I still have a lot of work before the tank is filled.

I have to get my sump redesigned to fit my skimmer better, I have to get the stand/tank leveled and setup plumbing and start to transfer stuff back. Already picked up 80 lbs of CaribSea Fiji Pink live sand. I cleaned out THR's stock. I'll get back there for more. Needed new bulkheads anyway and they were out of 1"...

I was just @ THR Saturday and grabbed 3 bags of my own of the Carbisea Fiji pink live sand.
Sorry to hear about your corals. That's the chance we take with moves.

Why didn't you put lights over the stock tank?

any sand left after your 3?
lights were just a casualty of the move time constraints and not burdening my neighbor with too much equipment - especially DIY electronics. That could scare someone who doesn't understand...

Yeah their was like 3 or 4 left.

I guess I can understand the no lights now.
