TUNZE STREAM PUMP

looking to add more movement to my 180g DT. i currently have 4 koralia-4's, but its seems i have some dead spots. i know a sea swirl or something like that maybe the best way to eliminate dead spots, but it just doesnt fit into my system. i was thinking of getting a TUNZE STREAM PUMP-

or possibly a wave maker system of some sort, i dont know. anyone use a wavemaker type set up with koralia powerheads? they dont seem to be the best with constant starting and stopping. wondering how using them with a wavemaker will ultimately affect the life of these powerheads.

all suggestions/advice welcom. but, as always- funds are very limited!

We have a single controller for a tunze that we're looking to sell if you want to go that route. I prefer the tunzes to the other options available though some folks prefer the vortechs. The best thing to do would be to buy the Tunze & Multicontroller and then add onto it as funds allow (or Vortech equivalent).

I use a Hodge Podge system for my 6 ft. 135 that I put together on an "as you go" basis. It consists of 2 Tunze Nano 6045's that are on constantly...one aimed across the tank from R to L (closer to the front panel) and the other aimed from L to R at about where the front of the overflows are located (about 6-8" from the back panel). The single return from the sump is aimed R to L across the back of the tank (angled slightly downward). These 3 are on constantly.

To supplement, I have 3 Maxi Jet 1200's hooked up to a Wave Maker that fires each of them at random so that sometimes none, 1, 2, or all 3 are on...Two of them are angled diagonally from back to front panel, while the third is aimed from L to R across the center of the tank. I own but haven't set up yet 2 Sure Flow 1600 modifications for the MJ's. My son gave them to me claiming that the two he uses on his 135 provide very powerful movement.(Note: these mods are the latest verions which are not noisy)

Patriot, I don't know if you realized it but that model Tunze is not controllable. if your looking for one to connect to a controller you'll need the 6101 or the 6055 nano models

what is the model number. i have no experience with tunze ph's or controllers.

FWIW I run 2 Tunze 6100's on a Multicontoller in my 225g. They put out PLENTY of flow. I really couldn't see getting a third, unless I got a super deal on one.

koralia recently came out with a wavemaker.
and also there is the smaller vortech comming out soon.

yeah i saw koralia now has a wavemaker, but i do not think you can use the normal koralia power heads with it.

Keep in mind these are all the new models listed. The 7095 multi-controller is also able to handle the older models - like the 6000, 6100, 6200. They are a little harder to find though but cheaper (albeit flow is a little less).

Also - tunze the 6212/wavebox. With that you could get waves of up to 1"~2" in your tank.
