As far as coming up with the same numbers, the biggest thing I found that makes a difference is mixing the bucket first. I use Seachem Reef Salt and can tell you that there is a dramatic difference between the top and bottom layers. I have an old paint bucket vibrating mixer that I use on ALL buckets EVERYTIME I use the salt. I find its much more consistent.

Phil do you have the original page where those results came from along with methodology, etc? I see it quoted all the time but want to see how it was arrived at and if there were multiple samples from each vendor, etc.

FWIW, the numbers for RC are right on the money. With exception of the bad batches they had last year, that is exactly what I get (and I test every bucket).
