For those who haven't seen the post, I've got my 90 up and running. This required moving everything from my 55 to my new 90, including the powerheads.
There has been some question as to whether the new Hydor Koralia pumps could hold up to the Tunze nano-streams at less than half the cost.
The answer is a resounding YES!
1: I dropped my hydor koralia #3 while carrying it back from the sink after a thorough cleaning. BOUNCE! Yep, still works perfectly.
2: There has been question as to whether the magnet/suction cup with the ball socket on the hydor koralia would hold up. Answer? Yes! I have moved it numerous times, and no issue whatsoever. It holds perfectly.
3: The tunze nanostream 6025 did NOT get dropped. However, when pulling the magnets off, one of the stupid iddy-biddy clips broke, leaving only 3 to attach the pump to the inside magnet. Guess what? It doesn't hold now. I'm probably going to try gluing the pump housing right to the interior magnet to see if that will hold, but that will require taking the pump out for an extended period of time, and right now, I don't have anything to replace it with while it dries out and the glue sets.
I have had both pumps since the end of December beginning of January. Both were operating at opposite ends of my 55 gallon, and now operate at opposite ends of my 90. With the higher water volume in the new tank, the Hydor CLEARLY moves more water at a wider dispersion than the Tunze Nanostream does.
So, long story short? In addition to the wider water path of the hydor and the MUCH lower price, it seems they are more durable than the Tunze Nanostream is too!
YAY HYDOR!
