Used Vortech battery backup questions.

Just bought a used Vortech battery backup from Ebay in a package deal with 2 mp10qd pumps. What light should I be seeing as it charges. So far my mp 40 is green and the white
Led is on way to the far right. When I unplug no backup power. Been charging for about 6 hours.

Thanks

It doesnt have a light on it. My charger that plugs into the outlet has a small red led that lights up. If you unplug the MP40 with it plugged into the backup the MP40 controller will flash green while its running on battery backup.

Also you can open it up and put another battery in it. Its just a small motorcycle battery in that big white case. You can google it.

Could you post a picture of your charger? I have a feeling the guy I bought it from sent the wrong one....

It is actually a small green LED and it will stay on if unplugged from the wall outlet running on battery power. Sorry I thought it was red. Also the MP40 will blink this green color and the dial will go all the way to the right on battery backup.

Thanks, that helps a lot. The charge I have is totally different. It might be the wrong one. I'm contacting the seller now.

What are the volts and amps on that wall wart? I have a wall wart that was in a bag of stuff I picked up from @Mark_C and it didn't go to anything I had. Assuming Mark_C doesn't need it back, if it works for you, it's yours. This one is 12V DC, 0.5 Amps. Here's a picture showing the plug end as well. And FYI, it has a green LED light on the other side.

Thanks slimfitz and Paul. The charger that came with the unit will run my mp 40 through the backup with a flashing green light and the LED to the far right, but when I disconnect to get backup, it wont work. I'm waiting on a reply from the seller. Will most likely return.

Seller agreed to take back everything. Will ship it back tomorrow. Will be buying a new Vortech backup and will also be looking for dead ones to rebuild. So if anyone has a dead one with charger and wiring for sale let me know. Thanks for all the help!

Honestly as good as ecotech is they fail in the battery department.
The design is flawed and because of this there batteries generally only last a year before they are capable of half charge. This is because of the way they "charge" the battery, it is a constant charge instead of a trickle or "as needed" charge.

Read this forum for instructions on how to swap out the battery and modify a trickle charger!
