What you guys think of UV sterilizers do they work will it help? Will it make a difference?
Algae issues dirty glass smelly tank will a UVS actually help or is it a waste of money

No. Uv is just to clear the water column and or parasites. Bad smell use some carbon. Lots of algae, get snails, algae fish like tangs, blenny, bubble algae get emerald crabs. Use prime if your going through mini cycles.

It really depends if you went with a proper/oversized UV. If so you will notice clearer water, less green film algae growth, and less or no fish parasites. If it’s undersized it’s a waste of money and effort. You won’t see any benefits.

I've always run a UV. Found out help l helped with algea. Also never had any issues with loss of fish due to disease/parasite.
But to each their own. It seems like they are always going back and forth with UV. For a while everyone says they are must have, then it goes to not needed.

On a separate note. After we booked one up on my patents pond years ago it really helped with algea.
