Vermetid snails...

Discovered these nasty little bugger's in a ZOA colony I got about 2 months ago. Just wondering how you all handled getting rid of them if you'd had them in the your tank? I've read in forums that folks have used tweezers to pull them off or a dab of super glue to close them off. What worked best for you?

I've tried to get rid of them but it's a losing battle. I've actually pulled rocks out and inspected them hunting for the snails which I learned to get out and I would feed them to the fish - who love escargot. If they're in your tank they'll get to places you'll never see like inside the rock.

I’ve got them….or I might have to say, had them. It seems like they are disappearing. If I were to guess, I’d say my wrasse is sucking them right out of their house. Does anyone know if wrasses eat vermitids?

I know they do if you shuck them for the wrase :)
My 6-line seems to quite enjoy them. I was hoping if it discovered a "taste" for them it might join in the fight. So far, no such luck. Then again, I eradicated a lot, cooking rock, etc....

Mystery wrasses are one of the fish who love them. We clipped them with a pair of bone cutters as well. As much as I hate to say this, if they are just on the zoa colony, get rid of the zoa colony. As others have said they can spread and be really hard to keep on top of.

I took out about 1/3 of my rock and cooked it just because of these. Those rocks became infested in under 2 years. As far as I know I had 1 before I got my first coral but many others came in on stuff before I knew what I was looking for. Now that I know what I'm looking for I see them on virtually everything I get. I try to clean them off everything before they go in the tank. I found once they're in the tank they get in the rock in places you can't get to so the only real option is to prevent them. I've found no efficient natural predator or any means of ridding the tank. If you strip the water column completely they'd eventually starve but they are far heartier and more prolific than any of the stuff you want in the tank so they'll likely be the last to go...

Yeah that's what I was afraid of seeing one turn into hundreds. The only place I see them is on the ZOA colony. I may attempt to get a few ZOA polyps off the colony and get rid of the rock so I don't lose out entirely. Spotted the first one a few weeks back and since then 5 more sprouted up, guess they reproduce quick.
