Wanted to share

Hey reef peeps hope all is well
So I want to share a random act of kindness that I was the recipient of.
I was reading a thread on r2r site and came across a post that made me smile,, it seems there was a gentleman that was a little down on his luck and finance are tight. Well this person was the type of person that gives n gives in his community and is a ex military that was wounded in the Mid East (I believe that’s what it said) anyway something important had broke down in his Aquarium and he didn’t have the means to replace it. So some members of r2r got together and got him one and had it delivered
I thought it was cool and replied that it was nice to know there is goodness in people still(this has been proven time and time again within the Aquarium hobby) well I ended with a joke saying “Hey my light broke and I out of work so if you want you can buy me one ,haha lol” and made sure I was being funny
Well a certain someone PM me and says “ Hey Paulie what’s ur address so I can have a new light sent to you “. I was floored
I got back to him and said I could never except that from anyone especially when there are folks out there right now that have way worse problems than a tank light out. Plus I could never take charity, especially from someone I don’t know,, well the person wouldn’t take no for answer and insisted that I take light, he kept messaging me for 3 days insisting I take light no strings attached. After talking about it with wife she reminded me of all the charity and fundraising I did for different people when I wrestled. So I got back to him and said ok
The moral of this story is how much it touched me,, the generosity of a stranger, it put lump in my throat tear in my eye
It’s amazing how many people I’ve met on NJREEFERS and R2R with such big hearts
The kindness and generosity of all people I’ve met in this hobby. I’ve posted before on this site names of all the big hearted n generous peeps here
I don’t think I’ll ever forget any of you awesome people
Reef on

Thank you for sharing that. I think we all tend to forget that their really are a lot of people out there that think with their hearts and are always willing to help others. I think in this hobby it really shows. Whenever someone posts about a problem, a dilemma or a catastrophe, there is never a shortage of folks there to offer help. Be it advise, needed equipment, a warm welcome or just simple words of encouragement. There is always a helping hand. There is a true sense of community.
Enjoy the light Paulie. You are always one of the first people to offer help to others. You deserve the random act of kindness.

I've been into saltwater hobby now for maybe 3 months and on this page for maybe 1, and honestly, everyone has been insanely helpful. Not one rude comment for someone just starting out. It's really refreshing. My other big hobby is cars, and there's so much hate in the car scene. But reefers have always been super kind to me. It's so good to see people all supporting each other.

Wow that is so cool and kind!

I try and pay it forward as much as I can plus lil extra when possible,, example,,,
I met Hass when he came to pick up a 125gal tank I was giving away, he kept trying to offer money for it but I wouldn’t take it because then it wouldn’t be a favor,, so he went and paid for 2yrs of membership to this site for me. Couple months passed and I had opportunity to pay for someone else’s membership remembering what was done for me. And the circle of helping and paying it forward has gone round and round
Things like that are the foundation of this hobby,,, I Believe
