wash or replace filter socks?

ive got some felt filter socks of various sizes, 100 and 200 micron. they feel like the regular coralife purflo micron, felt im assuming. ive saved my last couple and was wondering if it is even worth washing them. til now ive been throwing them out. if you wash or reuse them how do i go about doing this. i remember seeing a thread about washing them in vinegar but i cant find it. thank you

If they are the felt type, then you can get about 5 washings out of them before they start to bunch up. If they are Nylon, they are good for about 30 washings.

Hot water wash, low agigation (gentle cycle keep bottom sewing seem from popping), no soap, a spot of bleach helps.

;D I agree that you can wash them.

Felt socks or pads seem to do fine in hot water wash with bleach and extra rinse/spin.

My washer tends to ruin the plastic ring I have on mine, even on gentle. I just turn them inside out, blast the large piece's off in the sink, then run them under water until the water squeezes kind of clean, then soak them in a bucket with some bleach. Let them sit overnight and rinse well until I can't smell the bleach. Hang to dry and rinse in RO/DI before using. Not only did my washer ruin the plastic ring, but the felt seems to take a bigger beating in the washer.
