Water Transfer Question

I have a big tub container that I am going to use to store water now, for my water changes. How could I get the water from the tub, which is across the living room into the tank after I take out the water? I figured theres got to be an easier way then just filling up a container and pouring it into the tank and going back n fourth a few times. Any suggestions?

Get a pump and some hose. A mag 5 or 7 and 3/4" vinyl tube would work well. If you want to go smaller scale, a maxijet 1200 and some 1/2" hose would also work.

Would a sump pump work actually? I just remembered I have one! Like put the pump into the tub container and put the hose in the tank. That could work I think?

I'm not sure. I guess it all depends what the pumps and hose were used for previously and if they are SW safe. For the price of maxijet and 20' of 1/2" hose I don't know that I'd chance it. That's just me and probably explains why I have a dozen spare pumps and enough hose to top off your tank from here :eek:

i'd go the maxijet with 25' of 1/2" hose. If you can't find them at a LFS - DFS/TFP or any big online shop will have them relatively cheap.

The alternative is to go pick up a set of wheels like the ones sold by the barrel guy in east brunswick (or was it north brunswick - i forget). $30. Then you could just wheel the thing across your room and use a small pump and hose.

Ryan I have a pump I bought at H.D. and it works great for water changes. I do the same thing your doing. its fast and painless going into sump. I think a maxijet will take way too long of course I do 25-30 gal. water change. if your only doing 5 gal. well then you could just carry it over in a 5 gal. bucket.

Actually everyone what I did was I found an old powerhead/pump that I had bought awhile ago and hooked up my siphon hose to the end of it and it pumped the water into the tank, I did a 10 G change today, again I'm coming off the Chemi-Clean Red Slime Remover stuff that I put in the tank, did an excellent job by the way! So anyway I still want to get out the tap water I put in all those times as well so I'll do another smaller change, (5 G) At the end of the week, like Friday or Saturday. That little gadget comes in handy now :)
