Welcome, Beth. I'm glad you guys enjoyed your first meeting. And in true newbie fashion your husband cleaned up at the raffles.

Thanks guys! I gotta say, Len was very calm about winning the 4 frags but when he got to the car he was so excited! He never won anything before....well, other than my heart and he better stay excited about that one...lol...but all the way home he kept saying"guess what? i just won 4 frags!" he's such a dork

Hello everyone!

My name is Ricky and I am a 25 year old newbie. My dad gave me his 54gallon bow front tank. He also told me about the website. I have been doing a lot of reading before i decided to join. It has been very useful so far.

My dad has had his newest tank for about 9 years and its beautiful. I have a new appreciation for the hobby now that I am trying to do it myself. Its not easy like I thought it was growing up.

I got my first fish yesterday a baby Kole tang.

Wish me luck ;)

Welcome and good luck! Is your dad a member? Who is he?
Now post some pics in the tale of the tank so we can all check it out! ;D

I've realized that I've never introduced myself to the club...and now that I am a GB Manager and I have met a bunch of you, I figured I should do so.

My name is Steve and I live in East Hanover. I got into the Saltwater & Reefing hobby about 3 years ago. Before that I had Freshwater tanks for about 10 years. When I first got into the hobby I didn't know anything at all. I learned everything I know for doing research on the internet...a lot of reading and a lot of asking questions and reading threads from here as well as many other forum sites.

I currently have a 180 Gallon DT with around 200 lbs. of LR, a 30 Gallon sump with an additional 40 lbs of LR, running 2 Eheim return pumps, an ASM G3 skimmer with Sedra 5000 pump. The lights are a Coralife 3x250Watt Metal Halides running 14k Phoenix bulbs and 4x96Watt Power Compact Actinics, then it's also got 4 built in moonlights. Besides the 2 return pumps, I also have 2 Vortech MP40W's for flow.

On a personal note, I spend my days as a sales producer and owner of S&P Insurance Agency. The time I'm not working, I'm thinking about where I should go on vacation. My other hobby that I am very much into is Scuba Diving.

I hope to be able to meet many of you soon!

Steve - that was great. I had to go back thru this thread to see if I intro'd myself or not (i did, page 17 in 2007). I can't believe I researched on this board almost a year before launching the tank. Wow...I don't have that kind of self-control anymore...impulse impulse impulse now...hahahah.

Hi everyone...

My name is Jami. I'm a Detroit native (go Wings!) who has been in NJ about three years. I love it out here and I'm getting settled enough to dive back into my favorite hobby. As far back as I can remember i have been interested din fish. I was breeding guppies & mollies and selling them to neighborhood kids by the time I was 7 or 8. I setup my first SW tank around 1996 or so and have been addicted ever since. My tank progerssion since then is as foIlows:

55g FOWLR
22g acrylic softie reef... I started small. Bad call.
75g mixed reef
120 mixed reef
240 mixed reef... Got in over my head w/ cost on this one. Scaled down
60g GLA cube SPS tank

Then I moved to NJ and took a break for a few years.

I currently have a 30 gallon Finnex M-Tank at home and a 5.5 gallon rimless pico at my office. I have finally gotten the go ahead from the wife to upgrade. Now I just have to figure out what I want to do next.

Looking forward to meeting many of you & joining in!
