What do you guys think?

This all still scares me becuase I know how weak they normally build those things so messing with anything at all scares me. Just build your own stand and you will be happy.

Here what drew up of how the dual sump would be but now i'm to scared to do it lol

That looks pretty good to me. The only problem that I see is that there is no "surface skimming" in the skimmer chamber of the first sump so I can forsee a film building up in there.

Really? you think it'd work? There would most likely be a filter sock on the intake. two 1" pvc conecting the tanks. First sump 10g and second 15g for power outage...

Could you do us a favor and briefly describe exactly what you are thinking/proposing to do crossbrace wise. It's not exactly clear if it's just being temporarily removed or actually modified etc...

Well the reason i made this topic was to see what you guys think i should do. The brace is 10" front to back so i can't cut a square out since any tank that'd go in there would be 12" front to back... So i thought about making a dual sump connected by 2, 1" PVC so there would be 2, 1" holes in the brace. Or would i be just as good off using a single sump and just have the other side to put other stuff??

I must be have a mental block on this because I can't figure out what the brace has to do with getting the sumps under. Why does there need to be a hole drilled in it? If it's to hard to explain or I'm just "out there" on this one just tell me to be quiet!

i'd go with the latter...when I lived in nyc and my space was tight, I kept the sump on one side (berlin - 12 gallons) and the other side held my top-off water (just a 5 gallon bucket). The 12 gallon (12 inches) just barely fits the 55 (12 3/4). I don't recall ever taking that thing out after several years...

Is there no room next to the tank to handle your desired frag tank?

No Carlo the reason i said I'd drill it was for connecting the sumps if you look at the picture above you see the PVC (gray) goes through the brace. I don't need a frag tank i was just thinking i could make the one side into one since it'd be the refuge.

Cool,
Now i just gotta find a 15g or two. Something i'm worried about is power outage. If the power goes out how much water is going to syphon down. Is flex PVC quiet or doesn't matter and Drilling them should be easy right? Still 50/50 on this.

Oh no... Guess what i just thought about something!

The inside of the stand is bottom to top 19" but if i can cut the bottom of the stand out so the tank falls right in it'd be 22" Can it be done?

For sump height of course :) unless there is a good in sump skimmer that'd fit
