What is going on here?

Clean up thread means remove posts that are irrelevant to the post - not close it.
Fine, you close it asking can you close it and I cannot reply on the closed thread. What is going on?!?!?

I was only out for 6 months. What happened here?

Sunny,

Since you left there's been a number of new members, but, unfortunately, many of the older and more established members have slid to the wayside and become much less active in the group. As such, there's a small group folks trying to pull things together, distribute responsibilities, elect or appoint mods (and train them with what little we know), while trying to run the club, arrange activities and meets, and drive membership.

For example, and BY NO MEANS A COMPLAINT, because I'm pleased to and want to help, but in the next month I'm designing and printing new brochures/an NJRC sticker/a membership card, researching how to integrate instant membership payments at events, attending a meeting of a local freshwater club we're going to hang with at the Monmouth County Fair and putting together a Powerpoint for a saltwater presentation for that group.
NJRC is becoming a free time job.
Other members that are active are taking on as many responsibilities in different areas. There's a small number of us holding onto what we have and trying to expand.

I think Diana saw the thread and made the assumption that, as you seemed to have a buyer, she would close the thread as opposed to hiding irrelevant messages. This, obviously locked you out from any response to your own thread. I'm unable to re-open the thread and clean it up, which seems odd as I'm a recent mod. But, as said, I'm on a learning curve as well. Perhaps Diana can re-open the thread and she, or one of us, can clean it up.

Sorry for the frustrations. As we learn more it will run smoother.

@Mark_C not sure why you don't have access cause I just check your permissions and they seem correct. I will dive deeper into this issue and let you know what I find out.

@Sunny as Mark so nicely put there a handful of members trying to keep the club going. It's has become a full time job for some of us; as Mark said I'm not complaining cause I want to help the club. As I mentioned before most of these rules were already in place (I pulled them from older threads and put them in one place where everyone can see them). We had a club vote about the sale thread as there were members who wanted it public. The vote went for the section to be public (meaning none paid members can post). I was concerned with that section being public it would get out of hand so we asked for some members to become mods to help enforce the rules. I will admit and take blame for not providing the proper training/information to our mods.

Now I know your a understanding person and take not offense. I just wanted to provide you the full story just in case you had any questions.

I keep hearing "handful of members" , "they left us". Why? What happened folks? Was making the for sale forum public a sore point? I am still trying to understand what happened in past 6 months that seems to have changed the way we were - FRIENDS :( :(

I don't think making the sale form public had anything to do with it. In fact that was one of the point to make it public cause 'folks were leaving' by the folks who supported it going public.

I don't know why folks are not as active as they once were. Maybe it's life getting in the way, maybe it's some of the new blood here, or etc...

Maybe some of the issue was my doing. When I got on the board and took a look at the back end there were many issues. Being the IT person I am I felt some of these issues needed to be addressed. I started addressing permissions making sure they were set correctly. I also might had jumped the gun on some of the permissions and some folks took it as being targeted. Everything was cleared up but some of those folks might had stop coming. Also it seemed like no frag swap this year rub some folks the wrong way.

By a handful of members what we mean is anytime there a post about something (frag swap, meeting, helping out, etc..) it always seem to be the same folks jumping in to help. I hope the club starts getting active again
