Just got this live rock and it already has something new on it. There are 2 on the same rock, both about a quarter inch tall. I've taken a pic of one of them )>> Any guesses would be great... BTW I just got back into the hobby after an 18 year hiatus. Brand new here and this is my first post. Thanks in advance!

I am not quite sure what it is, but it look like something you could probably cover with epoxy.

i believe it is a type of sponge. not the typical porous looking structure, it looks more rigid, but i'm pretty sure a type of sponge none the less

That's cool (I think)... I just got this rock JOJ from LAX and it has only been in my tank since Thursday morning. I have been waiting for an Ammonia spike to happen but levels have not gone over .5 (yet). Most of the peach and orange coralline has bleached out but still lots of life on this rock. i hesitate to do a water change because of the low levels and my skimmers are not producing much so I wait (and wait) for something to happen! Thanks for the 411!

If it gets bigger and looks like it has shiney tips it might be a hydroid tree. I'd keep an eye on it.
