What is the best dual chamber Calcium Rx for a 300 gallon system

Steve and Mike did you modify your procals for a pH probe? I have a smaller geo which likely wont be enough once my frags grow out. Im very happy with the geo but have heard lots of good things about the procal. The lack of a ph probe port concerns me a little.

Mike....I put this on the line between the two chambers. Also, you can send the lid to Avast and they will tap it and install a holder in the lid of the reactor if you dont want to modify the lid yourselt.

WOW, I've never heard of MTC before today. It sounds like a lot of people are using it

IMO, experience and from what the owners of MTC informed me, placing a ph probe is the worst thing you can do. Install a quality reliable regulator and you will be able to dial the rector in perfectly...

I've never used a Cal Reactor, but that one that Trivan linked looks like it could be the best available! I think that if I was considering one, I would certainly include that in the top choices.

Guys thanks for all the info. This all news to me. So i will be doing my research. Thanks for all the input

I did a ton of reading on setting up and dialing in a reactor as I will be using one on my upgrade. The common problem people have is controlling the bubble rate which leads to all sorts of issues. The AP's reactor is pretty pricey but I didn't find one person who switched or set it up whom said they had issues. When paired with a ph controller (mostly for emergencies), seems it's a true set and forget piece of equipment. unless you have massive sps added or growing, but that is a good problem to have.

Now I've been told not to use the PH to control the solenoid. If that is the case how do you use the Ph controller for emergency?

I hope I get this correct, going from memory (which is not that great). Some use the ph monitor to measure the effluent and will turn on and off the Co2 Regulator accordingly. So set a control to 6.5Dkh and if it goes lower then turn off the co2. This accommodates for the regulators not being precise in it's dosage of co2 to the reactor. Thus, you can't overdose and raise your tanks Alk really high really fast. Instead, you can monitor your tanks, ph, to ensure your not dosing to much to prevent the same. But in this case, since your monitoring the tank, your one step closer to preventing issues. In the prior you don't know what is really happening to the water quality in the tank, only in the reactor.

I hope I got this right, I'm no expert on this and I don't even have one set up yet, it's just my interpretation of others comments around the web.

So if follow. I use the PH probe in my tank. Not the reactor. To do an emergency shut of of the Soleniod if it exceeds a certain value. is that right? if so it sounds like good redundancy.
