What is your tap water tds?

I was thinking about the fact I have not changed my di resin in my rodi system for over a year and my tds is still zero. So I checked the tds of my tap and it was 101. Am I lucky to have tds so low in nj, when I lived elsewhere in nj it was 300+.

I had my resin in place for over a year before and never showed any TDS. I swapped it out regardless tho. My tap water is only 0.02-03 after running for min.

There is no way your tap is that low, you have to be measuring after ro before di. If it is that clean you should sell it haha.

Joe mine is around 108 and I get about 6-9 months out of my filters once I see 1-2 I change it's to cheap not to

I do t have a Tds meter going into the unit but mine shows 10-20 ppm after sediment 2x charcoal filters and ro

We must get our water from the same aquifer, mine has always been around 100 too. As far as how ofter you will need to replace your filters, would depend on, not only the quality of your raw water, but also how much you have to make, the size of your prefilters, i.e. 1 micron, 5 micron, etc. With essentially the same raw water I would make about 1800 gallons a year, replaced my 1 micron GE ROSave.Z sediment filter every 3 month's, the .06 micron Matrikx carbon block every 6 months, and would get about a year out of the color changing resin. I could have gone longer with the prefilters, but that was my schedule.

Jim having a sediment filter with a micron size greater than the carbon would clog it, you always want the micron size of the sediment smaller or equal to the carbon. I know you know this and its prob a typo, just wanted to clarify for other readers.

My well from the tap is 173 ppm. I do go through color changing resin faster than most here due to the CO2. However it's not enough to make me aerate it and then send it through the resin. Jim where did you get your filters from?

You're right, there is a typo, it should be 0.6 micron which is the 'nominal' rating(85% effective). But the 'absolute' rating(99.9% effective) is 2 micron. So, I used the 'absolute' rating. I never waited until they were clogged to replace them anyway.

Seems like we really luck out in NJ, I guess it has something to due with the fact that most of the state is on top of an aquifer. 300-700 tds is not uncommon for a lot of the US.
