What should the PH be in a calcium reactor with course media?

I have only used the small sized media up till now, decided to try the course and even with the PH at 6.6 in the reactor and almost a stream of effluent coming out, it's not even close to maintaining calcium, DKH and MG levels. I'm wondering if the course media needs a lower Ph?

Thanks!

It's A.R.M. course media, I can lower the Ph, I have a controller to activate it, so no problem there, just afraid to go too far and make mush ;D Question is, what is "Too far"

You need to test the effluent dkh until it is where you need it. Slowly lower the operating ph. Try 1 1/2 what you need it at and fine tune the ph from there. Ie 15 dkh etc... If the dkh is there the calcium is present as well. After you get that, you can speed up the effluent flow or lower the bubble rate to get your calcium level where you need it.

Ahhh... good idea, I never thought of testing the effluent DKH. I bumped the Ph down to 6.5 last night, retested tonight and found littel or no drop in Cal or DKH. I guess the course media likes a little less Ph.

Thanks for the help Mbodell!
