What skimmer for a 120 with a 40 breeder sump?

I just got an MSX200 based on all the positive feedback on reefcentral. It's looks purty in the box, but that's all I can let you know yet. ;D

I wouldn’t try and save money on the skimmer, I would only go high end on this purchase. I have a lifeReef skimmer and it’s awesome. I am reading good things about Octopus skimmers. Listed below are a few high end skimmers. Just depends on how much cash you’re willing to part with.

Bubble King
Deltec
LifeReef
EuroReef

I will have a MRC-2 skimmer going up for sale in the next week or two. It can be used in sump and out.

I would go MSX200, ASM G4X, or ASM G3. You could consider the Octo line too, but I like these for the money. I money's not an issue, go BIG Beckett MRC MR3 or so. very impressive skimming.

I run the same size tanks and have an AquaC EV180 in my sump... You probably have the same problem I do which is very limited room under the tank but it does fit into the 40 breeder nice and snug...

I asked the same question - I specifically asked about the ATI Bubble master and the mini-BKs. It's interesting that in his response to you - only the "octopus extreme" showed up again. I wonder if they are getting incented to push those skimmers. Mott768 placed a negative review on the extreme skimmer so I'm not sure I'd want to choose that model.

Anyways - the K2 skimmer daniel has looks nice...the cone shapped skimmers definitely seem designed to be great. I am also in the market for a skimmer on my 120 - so am following along closely.

On the K-2 skimmer the neck is the PRECISE diameter of the top of the cone, PRECISELY. The twist-lock seal allowing this unique neck is a new design... a great innovation. There is NO obstruction in a K Series skimmer... the bubbles travel smoothly from the cone all the way to the top of the neck with no obstructions!

I think Wendy has that skimmer and I recall asking her about it and she was very please with the performance. I'm really considering a cone skimmer so that BK might have a future home in my sump. K2 seems really interesting I'm  hoping I could find more info on it.

I was just about to yield and say the pics you posted looked identical...and then I found it:

Also she says so in that same post you linked "I'll be using an Octopus PRO 300S with a predetermined footprint and built the bubbletrap baffles accordingly" ;)

I don't know if they even make this skimmer anymore though. Maybe the extreme is the lesser version but made in china instead of in Canada?
