What to do now??

I have a 10g nano reef tank that started out great and has only gotten better over the past year. However, in the past three months, it's had crazy fast growth!

I have Xenia, two types of zoos (zoas?), and a bunch of mushrooms. Everything is starting to crowd together. The star polyps that I have haven't really grown much, but the zoos and Xenia (which were nowhere near when I started this) have filled in. Two fuzzy green ushrooms are mashed between zoos.

Should I just let it be and let nature settle things out, or should I do something (no idea what)?

Xenia and star polyps can out grow other corals and drown them. Your option is to take some out or let it grow but in the end you might have 10g full of xenia.

I donno. Those hairy mushrooms can pack a punch. But yes If you don't want a tank full of just one coral you should trim back those overtaking the others.

On a side note I did see a tank full of pulsing xenia's that was real cool looking.

Not mine

When I started with 55G I also had crazy growth of xenia.
Now in 120g - it dies , but SPS grow OK.
So, solution - upgrade to 100+ g.

Best way to get the idea of what I mean is to check out my gallery.. I just uploaded a picture of it here: http://www.njreefers.org/album.php?albumid=45&attachmentid=5153. The picture shows that my front glass needs a little cleaning, so just look past that. :)

I like the diversity and certainly do not want a tank overpopulated with one species of coral. Now the obvious newbie question: how do I trim things back, and what do I do with the trimmings? FWIW, one of my zoos.. just one branch, seems to have come away from the bunch and has floated off to another part of the tank.

I don't think my other half would appreciate me tearing down our 125g freshwater planted tank, but I appreciate the thought of upgrading. :) I do have a 56gal bow that I inherited which I have not yet set up which might be a good candidate!
