FRAG SWAP VENDOR
I dont know if this is the right forum, but I have a used 300 gallon custom acrylic tank. One of the seams was splitting so it had to be drained and replaced, it is made with 3/4" acrylic. The rest of this story is a complete long nightmare, and will be told in another thread at another time. LOL.

Does anybody have any idea what I can do with this?? Can it be sold for scrap or salvage?? I know that the material alone is worth at least 3K, but I have know idea if there is a market for this.

It can definitely be repaired or used to make other tanks by someone who is handy with acrylic, but I dont know where to start. I was hoping somebody else had an experience with something like this. Thanks.

Mods please move this if in the wrong forum.

I don't know what the tank's footprint is, but you could probably cut it down to 12" to 15" high and make a really great frag tank out of it.

That is definitely a possibility that I thought of, but I already have a frag tank. LOL. This tank is 80x24x30 with a center overflow on one end. Its a bullet tank, that was dividing a room, and the seam at the bullet started to split, if that makes sense.

Can you cut off the end of the bullet and make it a normal rectangle? I am sure an acrylic guy could do that. Not sure if you could recoup any money back though. Maybe you can sell it to a tank builder.

Hey mike, i think that would be the best way to salvage the entire tank, is cutting off the bullet at the seams. Question is finding somebody that would want it. Thanks.

I know someone who could help you repair it, not sure what you want to do with it at that point though. Maybe the club could use it as a donation tank if you can't sell it.

Thanks Mike, I might take you up on that. I will get in touch with you if so.

Used Glass

You guys should see what Feng (Red Sand) has been doing with used glass. He's making his 500G tank (on the left when you enter the store) thinner (front to back) and making a 10' frag tank with the leftover glass.

Id just cut it down and make a smaller rectangle tank, sell it and get some of your $ back

Easier said then done. By the time I spend the money, and my time to pay some body to fix it (assuming they fix it correctly) and then the aggravation of trying to sell it would be completetly not worth it to me. After going thru all of that, and then to have everybody low-ball me it would be a joke and i would probably lose more $$$. I would rather donate it to charity if that was possible.

The best option would be for somebody who is handy with acrylic to buy it as-is and fix it themselves.

This thread has been open for 2 weeks. Dont you think if somebody wanted to buy it they would have contacted me??!! People cant even sell tanks that arent damaged or are brand new!!!

Mods please close this thread, it is useless to me. Thank you.

If he were able to sell it why would he give the cash to teh club. The tank cost thousands, if anything the tank would be donated but not the money that he can get back out of his investment.
