Whats the difference between a nano and a pico tank?

Just curious as to what the difference is if any. Is it size or setup or total gallons?

It's total gallons. If I remember correctly anything under 40 gallons is considered a nano and anything under I think 10 is considered a pico. My numbers may be a bit off.

When I say pico, I am speaking picotope brand 1g, 3g, and 5g aquariums.
I have always used Nano to describe the aquarium size, but I could be wrong.
