Sweet! This should be a lot of fun to watch. How did C2C with the tank build?

Gave CTC deposit today and they said that the vendor should have the glass to them by next Thursday. If it goes down that way they will start assembly on Friday. I think the tank comes in at just over 150 gal.

The place looks great Stan, you did a fantastic job. Too bad you just missed the North American Rock Garden Society plant sale. Those rock retaining walls are crying out for some really cool apline plants. Not that you need another expensive addiction. LOL

that is truly great work, and congrats on the new tank.

i hope they came down on the price on the tank, but either way, I am sure it will be a lot of fun.

I know i am going to be watching this build.

All the work that has been done around house was done by myself over the last 10 years. Fortunately all the boulders came off our property! I don't even want to think what it would have cost to have all the stone trucked in. As far as the tank cost.....I was able to knock off over a thousand bucks just by lowering the heigth from 24 to 20 this allowed CTC to use 1'2" glass instead of 3'4" althougth the tank will still be 3/4 on the bottom

nice house-

I'm in the wrong business.....
My house has nothing to do with me being a self employed painter (TRUST ME) it has everything to do with my wife having a degree in genetic engineering, and being in the right place at the right time LOL! I will say this though, my wife and I don't feel our house is any better than anybody elses. Its just a reflection of what you can have if your willing to do alot of the work yourself and spend every last free minute you have doing it for 10 years straight. And also destroy your knees, back, ankles, mind etc.etc. ;D

Enough about the house.... the next step in the build process is to get a piece of granite (the same color as i used on our bar, for under the tank. I think I am going to have it extend out about 6-8 inches from the front of the tank so I'll have a nice ledge to set my drink on. We are also planning on getting a few more bar stools to set in front of the tank.
I guess once I cut a hole in the wall and drop the granite in the mods will boot me over to "Tale of The Tank" not much is going to happen over the next couple of weeks. I built the stand when I was working on the basement and the wall is already framed out with the opening in it. All I have to do is cut the sheetrock.

Really nice love the brick work..!brick veneer? Eggshell or satin on the walls? I see a bit of a sheen had to ask being a painter myself :)

The brick is reclaimed brick from old factories in chicago that have been knocked down. The brick is then sliced thin, it is brick veneer, but I guess you would call it real vintage brick. The paint is Benjamin Moore's new Aura paint and since the basement will get alot of abuse i went with an eggshell finish.
I am trying to find some reclaimed barn wood for the trim around the tank. I think saltwater tanks have a modern feel to them so I have to try and find a way to rustic it up a bit around the tank.
