When will I learn...

that you can't walk by the tank, when you have 100 more important things you're supposed to be doing and think "oh let me reposition that powerhead a bit, and oh look the stupid rotating hydor isn't rotating let me fix that real quick will not end until

- you knock the front guard off the hydor, sending it flying to the very back or your rockwork, meaning even with your 12" tweezers and full arm gloves you still end up with wet arms, shirt (and being a woman, certain "parts" hang closer to the water when bending over from the top, yup soaked too), and wood floor are covered in water.
- you knock down countless corals trying to get the stupid thing back on and positioned right

stupidly you continue since you're already soaked and that rotating one still isn't...

- when you try to jiggle it a bit to get it turning it pops off, when you try to put it back on (still reaching all the way to the back middle of the tank where it is hidden behind the rocks mind you)you knock the magnet mount off which is now lost in the back of your overflow. Trying to grab the powerhead you manage to knock over the remaining frags & small rocks that you didn't knock over earlier (and some you did), you finally fish the magnet out of the overflow and try to reposition your powerhead, turn it on.. yup not rotating again. Repeat all the above 3 more times, breaking off a big piece of your poor sps in the process which now looks all lopsided.
- finally get the stupid thing remounted, corals put back, and realize it's spinning all crazy... decide it's just adding to the changing flow pattern so who cares.
- only finally stop when your 3 1/2 yr old is screaming because mommy has been "just fixing something real quick" for well over 1 1/2 hours and she's starving for lunch.

I have to go change my top now.

UGH!

LOL Never has been my experience!

I hear you. How many times right before the lights turn off at night, I look at the tank and see something that has shifted and needs to be moved, only to knock something else over..... etc....

Candi,

you are too funny...!!

especially the:
...certain "parts" hang closer to the water when bending over from the top...

thx for the laugh, i do need it!! i mean we all need it.
;D

No problem David, it was pretty funny and figured others could get a laugh and relate. Also, I was sorry to read about your clowns, and revived pains the loss caused. Hang in there!

well the phone did ring, and my little girl answered (her first time) thankfully it was just my husband... it's the darnest thing, he ALWAYS calls when I'm up to my neck in saltwater!

Candi

That's too funny ... and too true.

Try having your tank in your office, when the only time you see it is when you're SUPPOSED to be busy ... working !!!! ::)

A needed a good laugh right now. Thanks!
I king of hear you. I am short so I my hair and face get extremely close to the MH on the flip top of the canopy. Singed my hair many times luckily not face; well not yet anyway. My face is practically in the water probably an inch away. I knock down things often and don't realize it until I am off the ladder looking at the tank. Yes, I said ladder. Now I really have to pull myself away at night or when in a hurry to not touch the tank. Not easy as I have stayed up late many nights fixing stuff I messed up or piss of the wife because we were suppose to leave and now we're late.

There's gotta be a 12 step program for this kind of thing somewhere...Hello my name is _______and I'm a reef-o-holic.

There is no escape, we are all doomed to Reefer Madness! 8)

Thanks for the laugh Candi. I don't know how many times I though about writing one of these stories. Each time, by the time it was over, I was to pooped to write. And then I would resort to adult beverages to erase the painful recollection! ;D

You remind me why I keep so few SPS. They are always the poor victims!
