Solar panels do have some nice tax breaks, but that upfront cost is a killer.
I've seen a handful of tanks that use sunlight as it's main source of light with an inexpensive pc lighting for nighttime viewing.

I guess I shouldn't complain then when my 1927 Dutch Colonial with window AC unit, 90 Gallon tank, 55 gallon sump and equipment, T5 lighting,7 computers, 3 Tv's only runs about $295.00/month

Ouch, And I was complaining about my $571 bill.

I changed the timing on my lights so that they go on later. The rates for JCP&L are cheaper at night.

NJ lost most if not all the solar panel rebates.

That stated - I saw this and read about how one reefer was designing his house so that the solar tube was over the reef tank.

Obviously it's a lot of money upfront again - but the only supplementation would be for actinics.

My house was built in 1850, yes i said 18. 5 bedroom two story. It's the house i grew up in. Guess next year i will look at central air. I have hot water baseboard heat, no duct work. When i checked into it a few years back i was told i need one unit up in the attic for the upstairs and another for the downstairs. They were talking alot of money. Will need to look at if it ever will pay for itself. Nothing going to happen this year my daughter is getting married in the spring and Dad needs to come up with alot of money. Anyone know a good printer? ;D
