Where should Steve go on his Honeymoon?

Has anyone here been to Thailand? I'm trying to decide on a destination for my honeymoon and I'm thinking about Thailand. I'm looking for somewhere that I can go and do some diving if I feel like it, but also somewhere I can kick back on the beach and drink the day away.

I was looking at Bophut Beach in Thailand, but now I'm finding that Bophut has rocky beaches and murky water. I'm looking for white sand and crystal water.

Going to Thailand on a honeymoon is like going to a lunch buffet with your lunch packed :p ..

Just my $00.2 :D

If you want beaches & diving, I would suggest going to Cozumel.

Or Grand Caymen.

I work for US Customs and rarely do I see and one coming from Thailand that doesn't either live there or there for business. There is another reason many "men" go but I can't really talk about it here. I use the term men very loosely.

Hah good one. I went to Bahamas a few years back with my now wife ,snorkeling was great. Just so happened to be spring break when we went and the sights were great!

Since Steve works at a dive shop part time, I'm sure he's well aware of the diving at Truk!

I think he's looking for a place that isn't mainly for divers only though.

I am looking at the Cayman's as well. You probably don't see many people from here going to Thailand because it takes a day and a half to get there from here. A lot of Europeans vacation there. And no...I'm not going for "that" reason LOL.

What about Hawaii, Fiji, or Bora Bora?

Hawaii is on the radar as well, but I wanted to think about somewhere different and out there. After this we will be buying a house and then probably kids so when will I be able to travel far again....probably not until 60 LOL. Fiji & Bora Bora are on my list as well as the Maldives, but they are very difficult to get to. My airline miles will only take me so far and then I have to take a small carrier from say LA to the South Pacific and those flights are incredibly expensive.

I'd go to Truk Lagoon...

Truk is definitely on the bucket list, but that to me is a DIVE DIVE DIVE vacation. :) I'm looking for something where I can go for 11 days/10 nights and dive maybe 5 days and sit on the beach with a drink in hand the other 5.

If you decide on Grand Cayman, let me know Steve. I got married/honeymoon there and I can definitely give you some pointers on where to go and where not to go.
