Where to buy fish

Where does everyone go to buy fish online or in store. I went to my usual store and their stock was pretty slim and the website I've ordered from in the past had even less.

If you're in Manahawken and travel up the Brick way at all, the Petco here is legendary for saltwater stuff.

Salgado and NY Aquatics have great prices, especially if you walk in. Both do most of their business online, but they'll offer "in store" specials that are much better.

In Northen Jersey Absolutely Fish in clifton has a amazing selection. Prices vary on live stock but, their always stocked. Also ocean gallery 2 on rt 22 plain field is a good choice.

How is Ocean Gallery II now? 15 years ago they were my go to place. But when I got back into the hobby the end of last year, I heard they had taken a bit of a downswing.

Petco has a bad reputation from what I see in videos...
You are correct. Petco has a bad rep in general. But I have visited the one in Brick. And no it’s not the hidden reef outside of philly. But for a Petco. They cary more saltwater than any other Petco that I have visited. And I know several Reefers who have gotten some amazing stuff. Even a Gem Tang. (Nice score @Mark_C )

Whoa, a gem tang in Petco? Man, that's crazy... Their prices are generally pretty good as well, even lower than LiveAquaria though they apparently get their fish from the same facility. I do know that I bought a pair of aquacultured mandarins from the Totowa store at $50 a piece. That's a lot cheaper than anywhere else I've ever seen them.

My issue with Petco is that their husbandry is sometimes suspect. Maybe some stores are better than others. I often find their fishkeepers aren't the most knowledgeable so you better know your stuff and don't expect to get accurate info from them. And I stupidly bought a powder brown tang from them in the past, didn't QT, and I'm pretty sure it spread velvet that wiped out 2/3 of my fish. Lesson learned...

Guys, the petco in brick is a different animal. I wouldn’t buy from any other petco, though there’s another one I’ve read on here, possibly bridgewater?
In brick, they have a dedicated marine specialist, Andrew, who knows his stuff and is happy to share. Their livestock is healthy and they have a good variety. Prices can’t be beat. And everything I’ve gotten from there has done well. Besides the gem tang I’ve heard other score watanabi angels and strawberry crabs there
Not where I go for coral at all-there are steals to be found there but not a large variety-but for fish it’s second to none.

Key is to know delivery days. How I scored my recent coral.
Andrew is great, if not for him I would never buy there.
