Which store has best water?

For those of you who test or have had great experiences with RODI salt and fresh from various stores in the area, which one do you prefer for the best water? Are there any to avoid? I have gotten mine from Tropaquarium and Fish Tails in Brick. Lets hear it!

when dealing with purchasing water from stores it all depends on how there ro-di system is- if it hasnt been maintained and had the filters cleaned then the water will have a high tds- each store will have varoius results and there is kind of no way to tell because the tds meeters usualy only check fresh water and cant be used on salt water- One very important thing to do when you get your salt is make sure that you know what the salilnity of the salt you are getting is. Ask the person who is getting it for you to check because sometimes they dont check and they give you 1.021 and that will really mess up a system of a small size. I never got my water from anywhere else but aqua oceans it was cheap at the time compared to other stores plus i would get fresh water there to- i didnt worry to much about how bad the water was because i got myself an ro-di unit which makes you have controlle over everything but you alwaso spend some money on the water bill- good units waist like 3 times as much water as made or something

ok the salinity is bassicly the only thing you can control when getting saltwater from places- like if fishtales hasnt repalces there ro membranes for 3 years id probably wanna spend the money and go to trop.

I've been buying from Aquatic Vision (Hanover Pets) in East Hanover on Rt 10. (I am close by). They charge $1 / gallon RODI and $1.50 for salt (spg always varies)

We only ever purchased SW from Trop. It was always around 1.021 at the time (5 years ago). It was 50c for fresh and 1$ for salt.

If I lived near Red Sand I'd go there instead. He does 100g water changes regularly and always has gently used saltwater around.

Yeah i'd make my own if i were you. This way you can control it and it will always be the same and contain the same salt brand. No spikes or changes in your tank

For you Nano guys out there... how many 5 gallon pour jugs do you own? I just picked up my third and fouth yesterday from Trop. I figure its good to have 10 gallons of fresh rodi for top offs and another 10 for water changes. I looked at Home Depot and Lowes and they didnt have any water storage containers from what I saw.

I think they are in the Paint section. I have 5 of them from there, and take 2 -3 at a time to refill with either RODI or Salt depending what I need.

Again, I get mine from Hanover Pets. I've read about people getting from Walmart or Grocery Stores or Culligan Water centers. Just don't know what I could trust. (I don't even really trust Hanover Pets, but don't have a better option.)

Any ideas would be great. (I know, I could get my own RO/DI unit)

I use the Home Depot buckets. I have 4 SW and 2 RO. The buckets were on sale last July and I got them for cheap!

go to an auto store and buy a 5gal gasoline container, they are hard plastic and come with a drip proof spout, and a handle, they cost about $7...best water container I ever used...plus it's fun to walk into Aquatic Obsessions or OGII with gasoline containers...it always makes people wonder...
