Forgive me for my poor artist rendering but I will try to explain. What I plan on doing is running a Uv off of my return pump. I am going to install on 1/2 pvc line on manifold that has a flow meter from there it will flow through the Uv light and back into a T on the main return line sending back to display. Here’s the picture now looking at picture it looks like I can’t plumb back into return with T because it will want to flow backwards into the Uv. Should I just dump it back into return section? My only issue with that was I didn’t want to stir up a bunch of detritus

I believe u have to have the flow come from the bottom of the uv and go upwards as to not create any air inside of it that will create hot spots potentially damaging the uv bulb. I plan on running my uv off a completely separate and dedicated return that is plumbed directly back into the tank. That way I can adjust flow for whatever my uv needs will be. I'm not sure if what I'm doing is the right way but it makes sense to me. If your running it off of the manifold you should be fine but make sure the outlet of the uv is higher than the inlet so air bubbles can escape if that makes sense.
Yes you are right. That diagram needs some tweaking. I raised my pump
to see if my manifold can handle. I was able to get 248 gph which should be enough. I think I’m gonna dump it back into the return section instead. If I see a noticeable difference then I may plumb back into display. The way you want to do it sounds like the best option.

Dumping back into the return your essentially just going to keep running the water back through the uv. I'd definitely see if there's a way to run it back into the display even if you have to add 1 small return nozzle for it like a hang on back type nozzle. Is the point of the uv for the possible dinos in your other thread? If so it's best to circulate the display water only for dinos.
Yes I am gonna see what it will do for me. Believe it or not I have been dosing phyto every night and scrubbing rocks, keeping phosphates amd nitrates up and today there wasn’t really any “snot” on my rocks this has been ongoing for a couple weeks. I know I did not win yet.

I actually had my uv plumbed in line on my return to fight dinos a year ago. What I did was every night I vacuumed the dinos for like 30 minutes out into my filter sock in my sump and I would just replace the sick every night then I would use a turkey baster and tooth brush to get the rest of the dinos into the water column and they would get picked up by the sock as well. 3 days of doing this and dosing neonitro to bring nitrates up I was able to kick the dinos. Just make sure you run carbon when fighting dinos as it becomes toxic.
