The New Jersey Reefers Club made an appearance today at Adventure Aquariums for their 1st Official World Oceans Day. We made some friends today and made some great connections for all of our future events. Also a possible donation/swap of frags between the club and the Aquarium.
We set up an 8 foot table with a 12 gallon nano cube DX with some of the nicest frags and colonies of corals you've ever seen. It was a Frogspawn that was a glowing neon colors, lots of bright colored zoos and blastos. This might have been the biggest draw to the table. Kids were so amazed that they could be literally inches away from coral.
We had pamphlets from the Ocean Conservancy, NJ Reefers Club pens (big draw for the adults), bookmarks that were another big draw. We had wrist bands that promoted recycling, reusing, and reducing. We had aquarium fish magazines from 2007 that were another hot ticket item. The squishy clownfish made limited appearences but left with many new happy fishowners. We gave out over 250 pens, 200 wristbands, over 200 bookmarks and close to 150 applications. If we saw you today and your just checking out this post please sign up and reply and let us know how we did.
I want to thank Phyl, John, Brian, Deb and their kids for their help and Kim. We really made an impact on alot of the people and I hope inspired some future responsible reef enthusiast.
A lot of good connections were made with local conservation groups and with the Acadmecy for Marine Science (I may have written that wrong sorry ). We will defintely be hearing from them in the future about some projects that we can help out on.
I know Phyl will be posting some pictures for everyone to see. So enjoy there is so much more to talk about whatever I missed I hope everyone else who stopped by can add in.
Were also going to be on TV represented by our VP Brian, I hope he gets to read this thread before its on TV so we can all have a channel and time.
Last but not least.... BAX and his daughter made a visit and helped to boost our numbers and morale.
