Would kalk be worth it?

I'm debating on hooking up a bottle of kalk and dosing roughly 156ml a day of fully saturated. Not really to maintain my numbers, as i dose separately for that, i would adjust accordingly though, but for a ph rise. I'd like to try and get to the point where my ph stays above 8. Tank is 150g roughly of water, would dosing 156ml a day have any noticeable effect on the ph at all? Would it be worth it?

I would prefer a little more control over it to make sure my numbers don't fluctuate, and my evap changes with the days and seasons. I know that dosing 156ml roughly a day will lower my separate alk and calc dosing by 5ml/day.

I could switch over and maintain my numbers with about 630ml of saturated kalk a day, but that also means refilling the bottle more often, but i would no longer need the other individual supplements dosed daily.

How low is your ph? Some people bring in outside air to feed the skimmer. Ph is just a function of alkalinity and co2 level. Open the window to let some fresh air in also helps.

I have an outside line to my skimmer, i open the windows when i can, but it's jersey. on rainy days, alk goes between 7.65 in the morning to 7.8-7.85 in the afternoon, on nice days, it will go between 7.75 and 8.1. I'm just trying to find a way to try and keep it above 8.

I would use fully saturated kalk dosed just below your normal evaporation and allow the ATO to make up the difference. I would then adjust your two part to make up the difference in your Ca/Alk needs. I saw an average increase of ~ .2 pH units with the use of kalk this way.

It's a cheap trial at this point since i have a spare dosing pump so i'm doing something like this. Fully saturated at just below my evap would be too much at this point, i'd guess my evap is around a gallon or so a day give or take, my current uptake right now would be about 630ml a day of fully saturated kalk. I'm going to go with 315ml through a doser and half my separate alk and calc dosing and see how that goes.
