Thought & opinions please, re: filtering

Well they do similar things. But not the exact thing. In an ideal world both the skimmer and the scrubber would be utilized. While the scrubber removes nutrients. The skimmer removes particles, hopefully before they become nutrients. Is really more of a space/preference thing. Personally I...

120g Into the Sea -- My First Saltwater Build

Some people may have different ways of doing things. The following advice is more opinion and preference than hard facts. You don’t need a CUC. Till after you have completed the cycle and you actually have inhabitants. When it’s time for the CUC to go in. Start small. Most sites recommend way...

Thought & opinions please, re: filtering

I’d never say no to a protein skimmer. I am aware that there are people who run tanks without them. But using my tank as an example. All water that goes into my protein skimmer. Must pass thru floss. There is no option its how i set it up. And I change my floss. Almost every day. But surly...

Mg readings all over the place and Euphyllia all closed

Obviously don’t dose or change anything until you are confident your magnesium test is accurate. If it does turn out that magnesium is truly that low. Please remember to raise it slowly over several days. Or you may do more to hurt the corals than help.

Not positive. Largest tank wall is 96” X 24” Bottom. 96” C 48” I would assume. 5/8 - 3/4 But strangely on tank stites. Same size panels are only 1/2”. But probably because they utilize Euro bracing

    Acrylic Tanks

1,000’s of NJRC members. 99% have tanks. No one has an acrylic tank that they love or hate?. Or a situation worth sharing like Blown seam. Deep scratch that wouldn’t buff. perhaps, Difficult to mount stuff because of European bracing. Or how about good experiences like 10 years and not a...

120g Into the Sea -- My First Saltwater Build

That looks great. Seriously... looks very serviceable. And pretty to boot. As far as manifolds. I’m not a fan and don’t use one. The advantage is you save on a small pump. The problem is you alter how your tank drains every time you add something and have to adjust your herbie. And as a...

120g Into the Sea -- My First Saltwater Build

Hard to say. You may need to check the owners manual for optimal height. Mine (reef octopus). Required a platform to get it right.
