I don’t like paying the high price for carbon. I have used almost every carbon in the market and BRS rox is very clean.
The BRS allows me to use less in the reactor.
I also use the marine land premium carbon I get it cheap from Amazon.
But it needs a lot of cleaning.
I use carbon in every tank...
The t5 will use the most electricity. I have two 6ft 4 bulb and I know they run up the bill. I only run the t5 for 4hrs. I also use a mix of different Kessil lughts and I don’t think the use as much electricity as the T5.
I have no idea what the actual bill is. My wife pays it.
I know it’s high. We both are working from home and there is always someone home. But if you look at the bill break down the big drain is the lights.
Growing corals is costing me $$$
I would leave it alone. The tank is going to look bad for a long time.
You could have silicon in the sand. The tank is still not stable. I would keep doing water changes and run carbon for a while.
I use new life spectrum. They have a large pellet and it works great with big fish I have. They also have a small pellet that I use in the auto feeder.
You shouldn’t buy any livestock in December.
Shipping is horrible with all the holiday packages.
If possible you should always pick up coral/fish
And avoid shipping. Corals don’t like to sit in box in the cold.
Turbo snails are not good algae eaters. You need an army of inverts. Urchin are great long spine in my opinion are the best algae eaters.
You can also get a lettuce sea slug they will eat everything.
everything works as long as you stick to it. corals will adjust and adapt to your water.
I find water changes to be the easiest way to reset the tank and parameters. I made it really easy to do water changes.
I change 50g every 2 weeks. you have to do what works for you. I know reefers in NYC...
