There should be 1 inch bulk heads in there to tie into the spa flex. The hole is for the bulk head, that's why it's a little bigger. My trigger sump was setup like this. Honestly however you can secure it that you're Happy with, I'd just do that.
Skip the skimmer, you're tanks still small enough to be fine without it. On that size tank it'd be more for co2 drive off which will probably be better with the over sized skimmer like the one you got. So skip it or keep what you got is my vote. Also the aquavitro skimmers seem cool
I was sold a 5 gallon aquarium with a chromis to cycle with, so I can go back the next week and get a dog faced puffer . The chromis died, I thought something was up, hit up the Internet and got addicted from there.
It wasn't only the maturity, but I feel like maturity wasn't a factor at a year and a half. But that was my first time doing dry rock, it's a different skill set than live rock. Live rock, you put it in, turn your filtration to 11 and go, trying to filter out the excess eco system. Dry rock...
It took a while because I stay on the over filtered side of things, but just sad , low color, anything would kill them, any bump in the road. I've had dinos over and over, cyano, mostly the slimes. It wasn't just the seeding, I started dosing phyto, oyster feast, roe and aminos daily. I also...
I do not but I started with all dry rock and it was a struggle but I had seeded it with an order from Indo pacific sea farms in Hawaii and once everything got itself established, my tank is a real dream. Something to consider if you end up shying away from the live rock
My bi color was killing corals for a year before I realized it was him , I ended up keeping him and just adjusting what corals and where I put them. Algae, starry and tailspot blennies are more reef safe if you're looking to trade him in.
If you're gonna spend that money , I'd just dose it with a dosing pump like a versa, u can get a switch controlled outlet and just set it to only work when you're gonna be around and stop at a maximum amount you program. Bonus you can put your ato container anywhere you can run ro tubing to. You...
I got a taker, it's happening this time , luckily they stay to one side of the tank and it's setup enough where I can stick a piece of acrylic or something in to isolate them to one side. I'd rather not move their rock, but I'm motivated at this point .
