I run my tank without a substrate. It is cleaner, I run marine pure blocks in my sump for additional surface area for filtration.

Fish additions: 1x Yellow Tang I have a purple dottyback and hippo tang in QT. Parameters are stable, since I dialed back the filtration there has been a modest rise in phosphates from 0.00 to 0.03, nitrates remain around 1.

Additions: I splurged on Fathers Day and ordered coral online from WWC. 5x Montipora and 5x Acropora: The Acropora in the middle did not make it, RTN'd last week. Bummer.
