Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
They’re actually not exceptionally difficult to keep. They require lots of light (SPS PAR levels) and a stable system but overall they’re not much different than a coral.
They do better with phytoplankton feedings (especially when smaller) and use a ton of calcium, so dosing will likely be...
@freshoffthegrill could you post a pic of your clam in our OIA clam thread? We’re trying to keep track of progress with them :)

A few of us picked up some clams at the February club meeting, which was held at OIA.
This thread is meant to showcase growth and discuss care for our clam siblings.
Enjoy!

Good news and kinda strange, mine seems to have attached today too! He moved himself a bit to be more angled but seems secured in place now.

I agree. Just gonna let mine sit on that rock and see what happens at this point. If he falls I’ll move him back but otherwise I’m going to be hands off.

Looks great! I'm not a huge SPS fan but I'm liking how everything looks and can't wait to see this system grow out
Note: isn't that ALK quite low at 7? Are you planning on increasing that or just keeping it stavle?

Sorry to jack this thread a bit but thankfully not. He's still occasionally harassing it but not nearly as bad as yesterday and the hammer was fully extended and happy for most of the day today.

Very cool! I like the unique clown choices. Let me know when you're ready for those zoas, I'm going to try fragging them this weekend probably so they'll be ready about a week from then.

Thankfully the clown seems to have lost most interest in the hammer and the coral was fully extended and happy today. Hopefully this doesn't happen again!

I have mine on the lowest flat rock in my tank. Allows perfect top down viewing as its slightly tilted towards the front glass.
I agree, with all of us getting them from the same place at the same time it should be really cool to see how they do in each system!

Christmas came early! This skimmer was originally supposed to arrive on the 23rd but came a few days early.
There was a broken piece that I had to super glue back together. Seems to be holding fine now.
Very excited!

Well I just came home from school today to find my clam on the sand bed [emoji35]
He was all extended and happy, just sitting sideways on the sand. I put it back where it was before but I think I’ll make a little spot for him later tonight out Of rubble.
Did yours attach yet Dave? Mine...
do they eventually stop? does it cause harm to the coral? mine has shown no interest in any of the other corals I have ever added.
edit: I was thinking about getting an anenome anyways, should I get one and try to make the clown host it instead to avoid further harm to the hammer?
