Here is what Paul recommended for my system:
And here is what I ended up with:
Basically the four outlets come from the back wall of the tank and buried at the bottom sand bed. As you can see from the picture, one mistake I made was to put the inlet hole 6 inches from bottom. I had hard...
You can easily hide the pvc in the tank with your rock work/sand bed if you plan ahead. Take a look at this for some inspiration: http://www.njreefers.org/joomla/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=8203.0
Good luck.
I called several stores looking for this pump. No one carried it locally. Will from Aquatic Obsessions was willing to let me borrow one of his pumps temporarily until I get the pump that I am looking for. Nice of him. Unfortunately the pump he had was a 3/4 that wont fit my current setup. I...
My display tank is in the 1st floor and the sump is in the basement. Here is a picture to give you an idea:
I have a 1.5" line running from the pump to the display tank and 1" line for overflow line back to the sump. Now that I am in the midst of replacing the pump, I would like to know what...
Thats good to know. I will be there tomorrow.
My question is will I be able to hang in until tomorrow. What do I have to do now in the meantime to keep the animals safe and sound. I have placed the heater in the display tank. There are three powerheads (koralia 3, 4 & 5) running. There is also...
I am using a Gen-X PCX-70HP model external pump that needs replaced. If you have an Iwaki 70RLT thats fine too. If there are other comparable models let me know. This pump is rated at 1400 gph with 1" inlet and 1" outlet. I would like to stick to this size to minimize my work.
I would like to...
thanks for the quick response. I will do it right away.
I will have to travel starting this Sunday and wont be back until a week after that. Should I try to replace the pump by tomorrow or is there any way I can postpone this for a week from now and make some temporary arrangement? Not sure...
Hi all,
I am using a return pump Gen-X pcx-70 pump as my return pump. It appears to be broken - not pushing water. When I switch on it runs for a minute or so and then the water falls back.
What are my options? How soon should I replace this pump? What should I do in the meantime?
Thank you...
Nope. Actually there is not so much sand. I have an aggressive Clarkii clown that keeps kicking the sand all the time. Because of which the sand gets piled up in one spot and the bare bottom shows up in another. I am planning to get him out soon.
Yes, it is positioned in the middle. Does not touch the wall. I like it also that the fish has lot of hiding places and caves. Except when I am trying to catch that Clarkii!!
Thank you for your kind comments.
Is Bi-weekly twice a week or once in two weeks? tfd.com says both ways.
Anyway, I have done water changes once in two weeks for my previous tank and weekly for the current one. Although I change only about 5-10% of the water because of space constraints in the sump currently.
30% water change...
Paint. I remember when I first set my salt water tank I bought one of those vinyl backgrounds and placed it inside the tank so that the water holds it in place. This is from my prior fresh water experience. It did hold the poster in place but the salt pulled all the vinyl stuff from the poster...
I have had a reef tank for 2+ years but there is one thing that has always been elusive is the ability
to keep SPS. I have managed to keep some here and there but never really seen them thrive in my tank. Water changes have been pretty regular. Never had any major algae outbreak or any such...
