The one I just finished was with the double gasket. If you go that way just be prepared that getting the holes in the glass to line up perfectly with the holes in the box so that it sits level is nerve-racking. I also had an issue with slight leaking at the start and know some people don't...
I used the CPR Retrofit Overflow box from BRS, can get it with or without the backing. Also if you look at the diamond coated bits page on their site it gives you some good info for hole size for each different bulkhead size/type. Good reference material even if you want to save a few quid by...
I'd suggest to go new on the diamond bit, and buy the guide too. You probably already have the drill you need. I've got a 48mm i could part with (for 1" sch80 bulkhead) but to be honest if it was me I really don't trust how many holes these bits are good for; and you only get one shot - failure...
my plan is for an all softie DT while also growing out some stonies in the frag tank which is plumbed off the basement sump (away from wife).
Not confident that I have the skills yet for a mixed and I really want a solid looking DT due to its location.
nice ; good luck on it. i used all sch80 fittings inside the box; but in retrospect wish i used the white stuff (painted black) so that it wouldn't have taken up as much space. I dread the day a fish gets in there.
I also left more vertical distance btw the siphon and the durso intakes than I...
if its horizontal mounted I guess it would be easy to tell since the fitting extends out a couple inches past that glass. But if its vertical Id probably first assume the seal is the issue since thats vastly more common.
Ive always only used tape and never felt need to try anything else. Suggest...
I use D-D epoxy / Seachems reef glue these days. Mostly chose that epoxy for the coralline color but it seems to work fine and stick ok underwater.
I think i improved a lot after realizing I could slow down and take more time
nice those are much greener than mine, I'm already suspicious that a couple of em may have come doa.
Anyway these boys all strapped in position. Taking up pretty much all the space in frag tank that wasn't exactly part of the original plan.
and now ...... we wait
plants finally arrived. hmm they are a lot more mixed in size than i was expecting that makes for a bit more challenge, but they do look rather strong at least.
for now I just got them set up in the frag tank downstairs to grow out a bit. Once i can notice the roots starting to reach i...
imho no it isn't that significant. I was just trying to check out that new zero water product I've been seeing in commercials lately, just to see if there was any new tech going on. Wow they publish zero information about the filtration
Maybe you are pressing the headcount? I kinda let those things settle out on their own. In my current tank I observe a few trochus do as much or more than all the other inverts taken together, but they don't stir sand like the other varieties.
