Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
In the beginning I used a won brothers skimmer that I bought at a LFS. It broke after about 6 months. I then bought ASM G3 skimmer. This is a Euro-reef (that Satan Milkman's said) knock off and have been quite happy so far. I clean it once a week sometimes once in two weeks.
Like many...

Hi Marcus,
Welcome to NJRC!
When did you put the sleeper goby in there? I used to have a damsel which was very notorious that he kept chasing every new fish added to the tank. He would chase a day or two and then he will give up. May be you may want to give sometime.
That I dont know. But in my case, it was about 8-9 feet I guess. The output was slower than it would in the basement (naturally). But what I did was to leave the valve open overnight and the next day morning the tub (mine was a 20 gallon) would be full.
When I setup my tank over a year ago, this is exactly how I did. Carried water from the basement to the first floor. It would take more than an hour to change the water and then the spill all over the place was driving all of us mad. Then what I did was to add a Tee on the ro/di output line in...
Who needs FIOS, when you can get wireless broadband for free from Google:

All of NJ has this service now. Interestingly enough, the service allows only downloads (No uploading).
Actually I figured out the problem, but not the solution!
Leaving the hose above the water line would only avoid the back siphon. In my case, I have the pump immersed in the top-off reservoir and the reservoir is ABOVE the sump. So even after the pump is off the siphon continues to pump the...
I found out what was happening. Once the float goes up it does switch the pump off. However, even after the pump was off, the siphon continues to pump the water into the sump. How can I set this up so when the pump is off, it actually STOPS the water being pumped?
I am trying to hook up the JBJ Auto top off controller.

Mode A installation example 2 is what I am trying to do. I set the float up, when the water level goes below the float, the pump...
Almost forgot that you work in water treatment industry!
So it will be 15 gpm & 900 gph. No adjustments necessary to increase/decrease the flow? That is a great idea!
Although I wonder in reality how useful this can be.
You save some $$$$ and then decide to spend the saved money on something else and end up spending more money which will save you even more money. This is called Group Buy Syndrome.
Welcome to NJRC! A wise decision indeed!!
In my experience, the head loss calculator will give you only a ball park. It may be a good idea to to get a pump that is slightly higher capacity than you need. You can add another line to divert the excess water back to the sump.
Just my 2c.
Flow control valve is a great idea. Where did you...
