great idea...the SH are crazy about sitting in front of the pump for flow. They will even grasp the floss and then thrust their face into the pump. The idea that you need low flow is some kind of internet rumor. They do need flow slowed down when they eat, but otherwise they like living in the...
I can finally see the back of the tank through the cloudiness. The stink is still there and the skimmer is pulling out indescribable stink.
I had to remove the entire rock the nem was on - at least what was left of the nem. Little fluorescent red bits of what were the tentacles were floating...
This is about 12 hrs after power restored. It's a lot clearer and I think I see the anemone in the back trying to reinflate. I'm not putting this on photobucket as I have no desire to look at decaying coral blown up. I took out a dinner sized plate of grape cap (luckily the stuff grows...
Hurricane Sandy left her mark.
Power was just restored in my home after 5 cold and long nights. Right now the entire mid-section of the tank is a sea of white. The smell is pretty bad.
The survivors that I can see:
pearly jawfish
a single red fire shrimp
a maxima clam (reef odyssey)
a...
power finally came back...making a big batch of water to change out...the 120 is a cloudy mess. Put a ton of carbon in to try and help...the water is stinky.
Edison rest stop southbound only between exit 11 and 12. Long lines but fuel to be had at 3.59
Regular.
Nj turnpike.
Gonna check Costco tomorrow if I run out.
No power still...
Water is very cloudy....
Friends with power now came and dropped off fuel for my generator.
Been neglecting everything as we had a problem at work ans I was in the office.
Then spent more time at the Edison nj turnpike rest stop gas station than o ever care to.
The...
no power. I've been waiting in long lines for gasoline to fill the generator. Generator not helpful if you don't have gasoline.
PSEG "power will be restored by Friday Nov 9th 11:59PM".
Anyways - no other issues besides lack of power.
btw i'm typing this from the office...i've gotta get...
so far so good but i'm further up into central jersey...the forecasters were saying 5" plus of rain for southern jersey. I was watching channel 12 and atlantic city/brigantine - the coastlines are already flooded.
regardless we filled some extra pots with water. Also made sure to recharge...
the temp shouldn't be too much of a factor unless we're out of power for a long time. Oxygen is i'd be concerned with -especially for tanks with a lot of fish (or a very tall tank with lots of fish)- a small battery powered air pump would do the trick (mind you it creates a lot of salt...
Still alive...and one of them has developed a pouch...so although I had thought i got two females, it looks like one is male and the other female. They eat one hikari pe mysis cube a day between the two of them and the 15 plus nassarius snails.
The snails are laying eggs everywhere...lots of...

is this the 3600 watt one? i looked it up and it says:
Runs up to 12 hours at 1/2 load on one tank of fuel.
I saw a review that said it burns 1/2 gallon per hr, I assume this is at full load.
Yep I looked into that - we have a honda powersports store in our town. 2g's was a little much for me though. Both my neighbors have generators and they are not Hondas...between the 3 of us we'll just be noise makers...:p
