Good Afternoon All, I have a BRS Dual Reactor running GFO & Carbon. After two weeks (regardless of media volume), the output depletes to almost a drip. The first to weeks the output is perfect. Does anyone else have this issue? Is it the sponges building up with debris? Can it run without sponges?

I have a 120, 30g sump. its about 12 x 12 in the skimmer area.

I currently have a Tunze 9410. The skimmer is constantly a pain in my ace as it is always requiring adjustments and the littlest disruptions throw it off for days. I'd like to go the route of a cone skimmer with a smallish footprint and low energy consumption. Any suggestions?

Why does this have to be changed out annually? Could I just layer new mud on top of old mud? I'm assuming they reach capacity and begin leaching nutrients....?

yeah, so activated carbon wont reduce nitrate either? yes, mostly zoas, shrooms, xenia, trumpets after phos popped: the trumpets struggled all the xenia died zoas closed up shrooms took a hit but recovered. this is what spawned my dosing conversations.
