Coral Snow should help in pulling crap out of the water and let the protein skimmer to pull it out. It should help in making the water clearer. The best time to use snow is 15 min before your lights go out.
This is from Jon Warner of Warner Marine on Snow.
Enhances protein skimming...
How often are you testing your phosphate? What are PO4 at? Your GFO might be exhausted in a day or two.
Next is what salt are you using?
What food are you using? There is some out there that are high in phosphate. Trust me I know. I found out the hard way.
Last is what Protein skimmer are you using?
I use Warner Marine Ultimate Snow and it works Great. Your skimmer will pull a lot of crap out by using it. I have found the best time is to use it about 10 min before lights go out.
I have Digital Aquatic Reef Keeper Elite. I use it to control my Heater, My T5 lighting, Moon Lighting, Fans, Tank temp, PH, ORP, and my skimmer for now.
I know with Bio Pellets if you add to many when first putting them on line it will strip your water clean.
When I was doing Testing for Warner Marine on egoBAK We found the best way to use Bio Pellet for the first time is to start with 1/3 for the first week. The 2nd week will be the next 1/3...
Wow JNS makes some nice equipment. I can't believe they put no valve on the reactor. Is there anyway you can put one on the outlet of you reactor. If so I would and slow the tumble down.
I find that running the outlet to your skimmer makes no difference at all. I have tried it like that and running the out let right where it is. I could see no difference at all. I even check all my water parameters and that even showed no changes. That was some of the R&D I did for Jon Warner. I...
Black Widow zoos are on a plug and there is about 15-20 heads on it. I will Take $25.00 for it. I can do several sizes of North Star Zoos they will be about the same as Black Widow zoos 15-20 heads for $25.00
I should be home at that time.
Yes when you run them to fast you are stripping the bacteria off the pellets.
Mike put a valve on the out let of your pump going to you reactor and slow it down. This way the bacteria can colonize the pellets and start working.
You will find most people use ecoBAK and have little to no problems at all with them. That is what a lot of R&D and testing doses. They where not rushed to the market like most.
Also the slower the tumble the better they work!!
